Location: City Square, cnr Swanston and Collins Streets, Melbourne, Australia.
Drums Between The Bells alludes to the metaphysical realm
of understanding in-between the physical and spiritual world.
The audience is asked to take a bell on a pilgrimage to their
sacred place in Melbourne and reinstall the bell. Audience members
document this process so that, when dispersed throughout the city,
the work continues to live on at different locations, creating a
treasure hunt of bells, moving and mapping Melbourne's favourite or
sacred places in the city. Photos and film footage are
equally important to the work, as the bells continue to be found,
moved and reinstalled.
